19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time coach Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents his first title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after March of that year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has won 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my child Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

His defensive strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.

He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five points to go ahead.

Both players traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional victory, gained dominance to force a final set.

The opponent saved four early opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner clinched victory with a shot at the net, with Moutet unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
